Every single day I miss Parks and Recreation. The show itself means the world to me, it is still my favorite show, and whenever the world is too much, I end up rewatching the series. So Adam Scott and Amy Poehler reuniting means I am crying this morning.
Scott was on Poehler’s podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler where the two talked about his work on Severance, their comedic backgrounds, and, of course, their time on Parks and Recreation together. Including the love story between Leslie Knope (Poehler) and Ben Wyatt (Scott). And Poehler said something about Ben as a character that I found incredibly relatable because I also believe it: Everyone deserves the kind of love that Ben has for Leslie.
“I cannot believe the way that that show continues to be a medicine for people,” Poehler said. Then Scott and Poehler went on to talk about how both their characters are just such nice people. “And they’re so nice to each other,” Poehler said. “And every woman deserves a Ben. Every woman deserves a partner like Ben who roots for you and looks at you and is just like, ‘That’s my gal.’ Like, everyone deserves that kind of relationship.”
I have to agree. I have said repeatedly that the kind of man I want in my life is a Ben Wyatt and everyone deserves that kind of love. Mainly because he understands Leslie and doesn’t ask her to change who she is. Characters like Leslie are often labeled “too much.” As someone who has been told they are too much themselves, I loved that Ben never told her to stop being who she was.

If you need a little of Ben and Leslie back in your lives, you can watch Parks and Recreation straight through and relive the joy the series brings fans.
