Amount Big Brother pays housemates per episode

Big Brother housemates make around £50 an episode.

ITV2 has revived the beloved reality competition for a new series expected to take place next year. Though very little is known about what's in store, excitement is already sky high with rumours of who will be presenting and where the house is being built.

Big Brother icon Mark Byron - series 15 - spoke to the Liverpool Echo about what the experience was like and what needs to change. Mark said the casting process is lengthy and were only able to deep clean things like the bedroom and sheets once a week.

Mark was also quizzed on the preparations needed before moving in including how financial issues were handled. The reality star said Big Brother helps housemates by offering a small cash sum to tie over bills on the outside world.

He said: "They give you a little bit to help you, they do give you a subsidy. I think, when I was on, it was only something like £50. It's not a lot but they do help you.

"It was like £50 for every day you're in there which isn't a lot but if you're in there for 13 weeks it soon adds up."

Mark revealed he was originally cast for the show when he was 18 but had to turn it down because he wasn't out as gay at the time. After he reapplied, he said the same casting team was in place and remembered him from his original tape.
