American tourist details three main reasons he'll miss Scotland after month and a half trip

An American student who creates video blogs of his travels and who recently spent a month and a half in Scotland has created a clip detailing all the things he'll miss about it now he's left. Eric Boutin-Bloomberg, 29, who posts videos on his @EricBloombergTravels TikTok account loved his time here and posted several videos of his travels around the country.

The Texan PHD student, who is taking some time off from his studies to travel, shared the video on his TikTok account which revealed the three things he'll miss most about his time here.

Eric, who spent time in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness, speaks about his experiences in the clip, which has had nearly 10k likes, stating: "The first one is probably pretty obvious and that's the people. The people here have been so kind to me in every single way, they also have a great sense of humour. They are definitely some of the funniest people I've ever met in my life.

"So if you come to Scotland, make sure you explore as much of the country as you can but also make sure you meet some of the locals because they're really great."

Eric then goes on to pick food as the second thing he'll miss, adding that he feels like food in Scotland gets a bad rap, but that he found it to be "incredible on multiple levels".

Pointing to savoury foods pastries and pies, as well as the famous Scottish breakfast, he adds that he's also a big fan of the beer here and in particular, Edinburgh-based brewery Vault City.

He adds: "The food I'll miss the most is probably haggis because it's just so distinctive, and I've never tasted anything like it.

"The third thing I'll miss the most is the free museums, I think this is such an important concept. I think the idea of these museums being free in the country is really indicative of the society itself and certainly, it says a positive thing.

"So many world-class museums in this country are just free, and you can walk in at any point, this is something that never gets old."

Eric, who loves sharing his travels with people, said the reaction to his Scottish videos have been very positive.

"The Scottish people have been so kind to me online, giving me suggestions, kind words, and advice," Eric said. "It has been wonderful getting to interact with locals through TikTok and get advice about travelling through the beautiful country. Locals, of course, always have the best suggestions!

"The highlights of the trip were definitely getting to meet locals. The Scottish people are just great.

"A particular highlight was sharing a few drinks with a local Scottish couple in Glasgow and talking about Scotland, their hometown of Stirling, and how amazing the nightlife was in Glasgow."

Stating that he wasn't surprised by how much he loved Scotland as he already had a good idea he would, the travel vlogger did confirm that it exceeded all of his expectations, stating: "It is just such a special place and will always have a place in my heart. And I hope to return soon because there is still so much I haven’t seen yet!"
