American Airlines paying $90M to sponsor plaza at Rams’ new stadium

The new stadium in Inglewood, which will house the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, has its first founding sponsor. The stadium still doesn’t have an official name, but the plaza now does.

American Airlines became the first founding sponsor of the stadium, buying naming rights for the plaza at the venue. It will now be called American Airlines Plaza after the company agreed to pay $90 million over 10 years for sponsorship rights.

It’s a 2.5-acre space that also serves as the main entrance to the stadium. It will be the location of game-day events and is open to the public when nothing is scheduled.

The stadium is 75 percent completed and is slated to open next July, in time for the 2020 season.
