Amazon Prime Day: The Best PlayStation Video Game Deals For PS4 And PS5

Demon's Souls and a bunch of other great PlayStation games are dirt cheap during Amazon's Prime Day Sale. Credit: Sony

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you not only get monthly benefits at Prime Gaming like free games and goodies for a bunch of titles like Destiny 2 and Apex Legends, you get to enjoy some special benefits whenever Amazon’s big Prime Day sale rolls around. It’s actually two days of sales, but Prime Day is catchier and less awkward than saying Prime Days I suppose.

If you have a PS4 or PS5, this is a great time to get some PlayStation games at heavily discounted prices. These include PS5 exclusives like Demon’s Souls and cross-gen/cross-platform games like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Some of these have seen their original prices slashed to well over 50% off. Others have more modest discounts. Here are all the best deals on PlayStation video games during Amazon Prime Day.

Top Picks

Demon’s Souls — $49.94 (normally $69.99)

Demon's Souls Credit: FromSoftware

This is a great deal on one of the best PS5 games you can play right now. Yes, it’s a remake of a PS3 game—but it’s one of the best PS3 games ever made, and it looks absolutely stunning on PS5. It’s h0nestly a shame that they didn’t release this on PS4 as well since so many people can’t get their hands on a PS5 unless they fork out scalper prices. Demon’s Souls is the game that started the Souls genre and put FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki on the map. It’s brutally challenging, dripping with atmosphere and pits players against countless demonic foes in fog-drenched Boletaria, a kingdom fallen into ruin and madness. Don’t let the challenge scare you away. Buy this game while it’s on sale!

Returnal — $49.99 (normally $69.99)

Returnal Credit: Housemarque

Returnal is a terrific new game and a PS5 exclusive that makes excellent use of the system’s 3D audio and fancy DualSense controller. The game is set on a trippy, monster-infested planet where you’ve crash-landed. You find yourself in a weird Groundhog Day style death loop. Each time you die, you return to the crash site and have to set out again in a semi-procedurally based world (areas remain the same but the order you come to them changes). Some Metroidvania elements mean you’ll only be able to traverse certain areas until you come across new items, gradually opening up levels to further exploration. Enemy design in this game is simply superb, and the combat design is top-notch. Like Demon’s Souls, this is a pretty challenging game, but it’s well worth your time and money.

Marvel’s Spider-Man — Miles Morales — $39.99 (PS4) $49.99 (PS5)

Miles Morales Credit: Insomniac Games

If you liked the PS4 megahit Marvel’s Spider-Man you really need to play the sequel (though be warned: It’s a shorter game despite the price-tag). While the game stars a new protagonist under the Spidey-Suit (Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker) and features gorgeous next-gen graphics, it’s largely more of the same. That’s not a complaint, however. Spider-Man on the PS4 was one of my favorite last-gen games and Miles Morales expands on the story and action in really fun ways. Definitely good to get it at a discount, however.

Ghost of Tsushima — $29.99 (normally $59.99)

Ghost of Tsushima Credit: Sucker Punch

Ghost of Tsushima was my favorite video game of 2020—here’s my full list of top 2020 picks—for many, many reasons. For one thing, it’s one of the best open-world games ever made. Sucker Punch does such a great job making open-world feel fun and engaging rather than just a collection of busy work. A great story, seriously badass combat and a gorgeous art-style and graphics make this a modern-day gaming masterpiece. Get it while it’s cheap!

The Big List

Okay, those are my top picks, and now on to the Big List. Here are a bunch of other great deals for Prime Day shoppers on PS4 and PS5:

Prime Day runs through Tuesday June 22nd at midnight Pacific Time.
