Amazon Prime's first foray into broadcasting live Premier League matches got off to a mixed start following multiple complaints from viewers.
The American tech giant had secured the rights to show live football for the first time in June 2018 with a three-year deal worth £90million, starting with Crystal Palace against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park.
Amazon had committed to screening all 10 fixtures across Tuesday and Wednesday on its Prime Video streaming platform, but the reception has been mixed on opening night.
While some viewers praised the service, calling it '100% better than Sky and BT', other customers complained on social media of streams operating at some distance behind the live feed, while some reported experiencing ‘black-out screens’ with only the commentary to keep up with the action.
As reported by Standard Sport ahead of the opening night, this could down to the viewing device itself.
Amazon's 'Live Events Help Hub' asks users to update the app in the event of problems, while a list we obtained from Amazon lists the following Smart TVs as incompatible with streaming live sport.
"Starting [July 18, 2019], Amazon will no longer support Prime Video on Sony Bravia BDP and TV, Panasonic Viera BDP and TV, and Vizio MTK Yahoo TV. Additionally, support is being deprecated on Nintendo WiiU as well.

"Prime Video app will be completely deprecated on these devices by [September 30. 2019].
