Amazon driver's 'drop and run' leaves customer frustrated

Two Amazon customers have labelled the online giant's service "an absolute joke" following a recent delivery experience.

Shane and Joanna Edmonds were in their Manchester home on Friday when a mobile phone notification arrived informing them their Amazon delivery has been "handed to resident".

According to the Manchester Evening News, the couple then went to their front door to discover a parcel waiting for them - but no explanatory note.

The mystery was soon solved by a front door camera which showed a delivery driver running back to his van after dropping off the parcel at their door - but neither knocking nor waiting for a response.

“We got the notification to say it had been delivered, but we were really confused because we’d not heard the door so we thought it was worth checking the camera,” Shane said.

“Thankfully, it was only a pack of vitamins my wife had ordered that cost around £9, but the driver doesn’t know that, it could have been a £1,000 phone.”

Having labelled the botched delivery "an absolute joke", Mr Edmonds went on to place the blame with Amazon's preferred delivery provider before accusing the online giant of "not really caring" about his complaint.

“My frustration isn’t with Amazon really, it’s with the company that is being hired to deliver the parcels,” he said.

“We got a refund even though it was delivered and we didn’t ask for one - they just weren’t listening to our frustrations."

An Amazon spokesman said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and expect every package to be handled with care.

“We've notified the right teams internally and are working with the customer directly on matters related to their package delivery.”
