Amanda Holden speaks out on daughter's Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman split comments

Amanda Holden has spoken out after her daughter Hollie caused a stir when she claimed Simon Cowell had split from his long time partner, Lauren Silverman.

Speaking on The One Show, presenter Amanda called her daughter a "little sausage" over the comments.

Britain's Got Talent founder Simon Cowell has been with Lauren for seven years, after the pair got together in 2013.

They have one son, six-year-old Eric, together.

Little Hollie, eight, caused a furor when she made a remark about Simon and Lauren having split up in an appearance on her famous mum's Instagram live, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to her 1.8million followers about her fellow BGT judge Simon, Amanda said: "Lauren, Simon's girlfriend, sent me some lovely pictures of them cooking together the other day.

"Simon's quite good at cooking I think, so I think they won't have a chef now."

A confused-looking Hollie chipped in: "I thought they broke up?"

Amanda responded hastily: "Simon and Lauren? Don't be stupid!"

She appeared on BBC's The One Show to speak to hosts Alex Jones and Gethin Jones about her charity single, Over The Rainbow, which is raising money for key workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

And she addressed her daughter's comment and Simon and Lauren, clearing up once and for all that Hollie made a mistake.

Gethin remarked: "Hollie has been in the news this week."

Amanda replied: "Poor old Hollie. Who quotes an eight-year-old?"

Alex added: "It was just an innocent comment", to which Amanda concluded: "Yeah, little sausage."
