Amadou Haidara 'very interested' in Premier League move amid Manchester United transfer links

Amadou Haidara says a move to the Premier League does interest him as the midfielder continues to be linked with Manchester United.

The RB Leipzig player saw his name connected with United throughout the January transfer window, although a move never materialised.

Those links are expected to continue as the summer approaches with central midfield expected to be a priority for United in the next transfer window.

Haidara has recently returned to Leipzig after representing Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations, where his nation reached the last-16 stage, and has spoken to Bild about the speculation linking him with United.

“I can’t say much about that. I’m glad to be back,” Haidara said.

“You hear rumours, that’s how it is when the transfer period is over. But I still have a contract and I want to keep fulfilling it. I see no reason to think about a change.”

Despite that, Haidara also admitted a move to the Premier League is of interest to him, having previously claimed to be a United fan.

“The English league is very interesting, many players want to prove their skills there.

“But I feel very comfortable here and I’m glad that I can develop further here. It’s clear that the English league is very interesting for all of us.

“But why should I throw this all away for something I might not be sure about? One wonders whether it’s worth it.

“Of course, I asked myself this question, but I don’t have an answer because I want to achieve my goals here with RB. That’s what I’m still working for.”

Earlier this week, Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell played down Haidara’s links to United during the January window, insisting the midfielder had no interest in moving on.

“Amadou Haidara has been with us for a long time, an important player. I also don’t think he necessarily wanted that, to just move somewhere else,” Vivell said.
