Amad trains with former Manchester United player ahead of pre-season

Manchester United have returned for pre-season ahead of Erik ten Hag's second campaign in charge of the club.

United ended last season in third and secured a return to the Champions League in doing so. Silverware was also secured for the first time since 2017 with the Carabao Cup win at Wembley.

Earlier this week, some of United's squad headed back to the club's Carrington training ground to begin their preparations for the 2023/24 season in earnest. The likes of Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Dean Henderson were among those to return.

New United signing Mason Mount was also at the training ground as he completed a medical ahead of his £55m move from Chelsea. The midfielder has since been officially confirmed as a United player, putting pen to paper on an initial five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Amad Diallo is back at United following a successful spell in the Championship last season with Sunderland. The question is whether the Ivorian will be sent out on loan again to pick up more experience or be integrated into Ten Hag's first team plans for the new campaign.

Defender Brandon Williams is down the pecking order at left-back behind both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. He is among a clutch of several players who could be moved on this summer in a bid to bring in funds in the transfer market.

But both players appear to have been putting in extra work prior to the new season and have been doing so together - alongside United Academy graduate Dion McGhee. Diallo posted a photo on his Instagram of the trio after going through their paces.

McGhee made appearances for United's U18 and U23 sides before departing for Portuguese side Braga in January 2022. He is currently without a club.

United will be aiming to improve upon their third placed Premier League finish when the new top flight season commences over the weekend of August 12. United host Wolves at Old Trafford over the first weekend of the fresh campaign.

Before then is a busy pre-season fixture schedule which will see United take on Leeds United, Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lens and Athletic Bilbao. The squad will be aiming to be ready for the fresh campaign through these run of games.
