Alun Wyn Jones and Ross Moriarty injury latest as Wales issue update

Wayne Pivac has issued an injury update on Alun Wyn Jones and Ross Moriarty after they were both forced off in Wales' 54-16 defeat to the All Blacks.

Captain Jones, who was making his 149th Wales appearance to surpass Richie McCaw's world record, suffered an injury to the same shoulder he dislocated before the Lions tour after tackling New Zealand full-back Jordie Barrett around the 20-minute mark.

Flanker Moriarty, meanwhile, was hurt in a collision which resulted in opposing prop Nepo Laulala being yellow carded for a no-wrap hit to the head of the Dragons back rower.

Addressing his post-match press conference, Wales boss Pivac revealed Jones will undergo a precautionary scan.

"Al, talking to him in the changing room, he feels pretty good." he said.

"He’ll get a scan as a precaution. He’s not in any discomfort. At the time, with the previous episodes, he couldn’t play on.

"But he’s feeling a lot better so that’s a plus."

Pressed further on whether there were fears he had dislocated his shoulder again, Pivac replied: "Certainly that wasn’t the discussion and our medical team was in South Africa. I don’t think they’ll write him off after South Africa."

As for Moriarty's shoulder issue, Pivac added: "Ross is an AC joint. He’s was in quite a bit of pain. He’s in pain relief at the moment. So it doesn’t look too good."

Wales' autumn campaign kicked off with a heavy bump and seven tries from the All Blacks. They next face South Africa on Saturday, November 6.
