A popular drop tower ride in the dark is returning to Alton Towers next week. As families prepare to visit for May half term, the resort has announced the return of Nemesis Sub-Terra.
It's bound to cause a bit of confusion, as it's not the Nemesis rollercoaster that some visitors may think it is. That is currently being rebuilt ahead of a 2024 reopening.
It is however a separate ride that sits next to the coaster and has been closed for a number of years.

The underground attraction, which is a firm favourite among theme park fans, invites guests to 'embark on an intense journey and witness the research of The Phalanx, before freefalling into the pit'.
The Phalanx is a 'secret organisation tasked with keeping the Nemesis beast under control' and riders 'are invited to look, stay alert, but don’t touch, as you’re shown exciting glimpses of a Nemesis egg'.
The theme park's website states: "Board the ride and embark towards your worst nightmare, underground on Nemesis Sub-Terra, as you’re taken down into the deepest location of the Forbidden Valley, venturing in the excavated caves below the Nemesis monster for a truly terrifying experience."
Because of its close location to the rollercoaster, it means fans of Nemesis can also watch the transformation take place on a specially constructed viewing platform, overlooking the site.
Just last month thrill seekers were given a sneak peek at the new ride with the arrival of the first new pieces of track. Previously white, it is now black, with what appears to be red veins snaking along its length.
The entire 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track is being replaced as part of the transformation, before the ride reopens in 2024.
But before that Nemesis Sub Terra opens on May 27, just in time for half term. Riders must be 1.4m or over. To buy tickets visit the Alton Towers website.
