Ally McCoist drops Rangers clanger as uber excited legend labels goal hero 'Scott Arsefield'

It wasn't just the Rangers punters that lost their heads when they took the lead against Liverpool. Ally MCoist managed to as well.

Scott Arfield 's 17th minute opener took the roof off Ibrox as the midfielder fired them into a Champions League lead against the six-time winners. Gio van Bronckhorst's team were everything they weren't last week at Anfield in the first half, as the Light Blues imposed themselves on Jurgen Klopp 's men.

And they got their just rewards when Arfield stayed cool to steer the ball beyond Allison and into the far corner. The Reds looked rattled and a shockwas on the cards, with the Merseyside club not having their troubles to seek in recent weeks, falling 14 points behind English Premier League leaders Arsenal with a 2-3 loss at the Emirates before heading to Glasgow. However, they recovered to draw level seven minutes later, Roberto Firmino heading home after getting in front of James Tavernier.

But the opener was moment savoured not just by Gers legend McCoist, but fellow pundit Rio Ferdinand as well. The former Manchester United star is clearly keen to see the Light Blues come out on top, and was up jumping for joy with McCoist along with most of the 50,000 others in the Govan ground.

Such was McCoist's excitement, he got his pronunciation wrong which resulted in a comedy slip of the tongue when namecheking the Rangers goalscorer. "I remember driving down to Berwick and up to Peterhead and everything," he said on BT Sport. "Now we're scoring against Liverpool in the Champions League.

"But to get back to the goal, it had a little bit of everything in it. Second ball, the ball from Colak back to Jack then the lovely touch from Arsefield...Arfield, I beg your pardon, to take it away from Gomez, was first class. But not as good as the second touch.
