Allen Robinson believes offense is ‘years ahead’ from last year

Learning a new offense isn’t exactly the easiest task in the world for NFL players and the Bears have barely scratched the surface of coach Matt Nagy’s system. But if Wide Receiver Allen Robinson is correct, the offense should be greatly improved in 2019.

Speaking with 670 the Score’s Bears Beat Reporter Mark Grote at the 24th annual Bears Care Gala at Soldier Field, Robinson revealed he worked with  Mitchell Trubisky in California earlier in March and feels the Bears offense is “years ahead” already this spring compared to 2018.

Robinson was signed to a three-year deal in March of 2018 and was rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered six months earlier. Now healthy for an entire offseason, he’s taking advantage of working with Trubisky to build their rapport on the football field and is looking to master Nagy’s offense.

The 25-year-old also said he welcomes the addition of newly drafted Georgia WR Riley Ridley. “For us, the more the better. Just adding to the weapons to the group,” he said.

Ridley, selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, former New England Patriot Cordarralle Patterson, and Missouri undrafted free agent Emanuel Hall all add increased competition to the position. After seeing the wrinkles Nagy and offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich added in the first year of the offense, players and fans alike are looking forward to what they’ll unveil in 2019.
