Allan Saint-Maximin's brilliant three word comeback message as he returns to Newcastle training

Allan Saint-Maximin confirmed his return to training with a three word post on Twitter.

The Newcastle fan favourite assured fans on social media not to worry about his condition as he returned to the training ground following his COVID diagnosis.

And he responded to a Newcastle United post with pictures of him training with a picture of John Snow, the character from Game of Thrones, and the caption: "I'm back, baby."

Responding to a fan who himself said he'd suffered from Long Covid, Saint-Maximin wrote: "I feel good, don't worry".

Another fan said he was the hero Newcastle "didn't deserve" but he replied: "Don't say that my friend, no one is above Newcastle."

United fans will be hoping that his return sparks an upturn in fortunes for the Magpies. They have won just two games in ten since his absence from the team, and not in the last eight matches.

His COVID diagnosis was revealed in December after rumours swirled about a possible bust-up with Steve Bruce. But the United boss revealed they would manage his condition carefully after such a long absence from the first team.

The prognosis is that he is still a few weeks away from a return to first team duty but nonetheless fans were elated to see him return to light training.
