Allan Saint-Maximin's agency drop injury hint to back up Eddie Howe's Newcastle United hopes

Newcastle United fans across the globe may soon get their wish with Allan Saint-Maximin seemingly set to return for this weekend's clash with Brentford. The Frenchman has been sidelined with a hamstring problem since the 1-1 draw with Wolves despite being close to making the last two matchday squads in the Premier League.

Chronicle Live understands Saint-Maximin is back in training and may be finally ready to return as Newcastle look for some much-needed creativity at St James' Park. The winger's agency, KSM Sports, teased his return earlier this week, posting a short video of the Saint-Maximin in action with the caption: "The comeback is imminent."

Eddie Howe is certainly ready to welcome the attacker back into the fold after recent draws with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth highlighted how much the Magpies miss his creativity.

Speaking after the 4-1 win at Fulham, Howe confirmed Saint-Maximin had been close to featuring at Craven Cottage. “Yeah, hopefully,” the Newcastle boss responded when asked if the 25-year-old would return.

“It’s always difficult to give a guarantee but he did train with the team yesterday and trained well but for me, it was too early to involve him. We need to make sure when he comes back he’s fit enough to do himself and the team justice. Hopefully, with a good training week under his belt, he could be close.”

Saint-Maximin is yet to feature alongside summer addition Alexander Isak and has had limited chances to link up with Callum Wilson so far this term. The former Nice winger found the net in his last outing and helped himself to two assists in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City the game before.
