Allan Saint-Maximin on why he thinks the Newcastle United forward line looks 'more beautiful'

Allan Saint-Maximin believes that Newcastle United's summer transfer business has left the forward line looking 'more beautiful' and he can't wait to get into full-flow.

The Frenchman put in a top performance against West Ham in the opening day victory and feels that the arrival of Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser had added to the squad.

Asked if the new arrivals will improve the side, he told NUFC TV: "I hope so, I think if the club buys a new player it is because they think we need this and we need to improve.

"I think the players who have arrived can only make the team play better.

"I am really happy. I hope I can give a lot of assists to Callum [Wilson] because he is a good striker and scores a lot of goals.

"Joelinton is here, Fraser, Miguel Almiron- so now I think the front looks more beautiful."

After a more than decent debut season in the Premier League, the fear is now defender could target Saint-Maximin due to his pace and trickery.

He was fouled seven times by West Ham on Saturday - perhaps a sign of things to come.

Reflecting on his first season on Tyneside, he said: "I had my first experience [in the PL].

"I played well in my first season, sometimes it is difficult to adapt to a big league like the Premier League - so I just want to keep doing well.

"I have to concentrate to do the right things, and I am ready to play much better."

Newcastle face Blackburn on Tuesday night before Brighton on Sunday - both games will be played behind closed doors at St James' Park.

While Saint-Maximin acknowledged the good spirit in the camp, he admits it's not the same without fans.

"There is a really good mood - everyone has a good relationship and that is really important for the start of the season, and I think this season we can really look like a good Newcastle.

"But we wait for the fans because it is not good when they are not there. "
