Allan McGregor has agreed a return to Rangers.

The club legend will become the Ibrox goalkeeping coach as he replaces Sal Bibbo on Derek McInnes' coaching staff.

McGregor retired at Rangers in 2023 but had hinted at a future in coaching down the line.

Now, as reported by The Rangers Review, McGregor will take up a position on the coaching staff at Rangers ahead of the 2026/27 season.

McInnes has chosen McGregor as the person to lead the goalkeepers at Rangers in the future as Bibbo heads for the Premier League.

We previously reported that Bibbo would leave Rangers to join Coventry as part of Frank Lampard's backroom team.

McGregor, though, has been quickly added to the Rangers staff and is set to work with the players on Wednesday.

Alan Archibald, Paul Sheerin and Craig Clark were all added to McInnes' coaching staff after he joined Rangers from Hearts.

McGregor's arrival comes after Rangers signed Ivor Pandur in a £6million deal on Tuesday. The Croatian goalkeeper is set to claim the No.1 jersey at Rangers ahead of Liam Kelly this season.

Jack Butland will leave Rangers to join Hull in a £3m deal having agreed a transfer and paid an emotional farewell to the Ibrox club.

He wrote on Instagram: "3 years ago I made a decision to join this great football club, with no hesitation, and I'm so glad that I did. While it's been a rollercoaster, I've always tried to represent the club in the best way I can, both on and off the pitch, and I leave with great pride knowing that I truly gave the fans, the club, and my teammates my all.

"To the fans that followed us everywhere, you are what makes this club so great. We created memories and atmospheres all over Europe, and the sound of Ibrox in full voice will stay with me forever.

"This is only goodbye for now. You've created a family of lifelong Rangers fans, once a Ranger, always a Ranger, me and my family will always be that. Thank you."
