A Queensland mum who wears not two but 13 hats at her local club has been named Surf Life Saving Australia's volunteer of the year.
Belinda Doman is patrol captain at Coolangatta Surf Club, chief training officer, a member of its awards and lifesaving membership committees, holds a further five branch level positions and sits on two Surf Life Saving Queensland committees.
She also has two young daughters.
The 39-year-old is "a natural leader who continuously gives to her club", according to the country's leading water safety organisation.
Ms Doman was one of 13 national award winners announced by SLSA on Saturday.
Neil John from North Queensland's Sarina club took out the prestigious Surf Lifesaver of the Year title for his outstanding leadership as both club captain and president.
Tasmania's Penguin SLSC at Preservation Bay, near Burnie, was named Club of the Year.
Former Ironman and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service team member Corey Jones was crowned Lifeguard of the Year.
After a breakout season claiming her maiden Coolangatta Gold title and 2019-20 IronWoman Series crown, Noosa Heads' Lana Rogers took out Surf Sports Athlete of the Year.
"Each year our members give up more than one million hours of their time to keep our beaches safe and the Awards of Excellence allows us to recognise them for their commitment to their communities and dedication to ensuring we keep our coastlines safe," said SLSA boss Adam Weir.
"Our members' contributions extend beyond the beach and in a year that has presented many challenges it has been inspiring to see them remain dedicated in the pursuit of safety."
