Storm Darcy has been likened to 'Beast from the East 2' as a cold blast of wintry weather has swept along the east coast of the UK overnight.
Parts of England and Scotland are still covered by snow and ice warnings as the new week begins amid the nation’s ongoing cold snap.
The Met Office has issued severe amber snow warnings for London and south-east England, where heavy snow is likely to cause long delays on roads and to rail and air travel.
Forecasters are warning of a strong chance of roads becoming blocked by deep snow, “with many stranded vehicles and passengers likely”. Snow accumulations of 5-10cm will be widespread in the affected area, and reaching up to 30cm in “a few sites”.
Lengthy interruptions are also predicted to power supplies and other services including gas, water, telephone and mobile phone services.

Areas under the warning comprise the outskirts of south-east London, plus Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
Here are all the weather warnings that are currently in place today.
Amber weather warning for snow:
This continues until 12 noon today as heavy snow is likely to bring widespread travel disruption to South East coastal areas including Norwich, Ipswich, Chelmsford and the Kent coast.
It warns of long delays and cancellations on bus, air and rail travel. There is a "good chance" that roads may become blocked by deep snow, with stranded vehicles and passengers likely.
Power supplies and other services, such as utilities and mobile phone coverage could be affected.
A separate amber warning for snow is in effect across South Yorkshire and the East Midlands until 2pm today. It warns of similar disruption as a result of "frequent heavy snow showers will lead to some travel disruption today."
Accumulations of 3-8cm will be widespread, reaching to 15cm in some areas, including the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The warning affects areas north of Nottingham, east to Lincoln and north to Sheffield and just south of Hull.

Yellow warning for snow:
And another yellow warning for snow is in effect from the north of Inverness in Scotland and along the east coast covering Aberdeen, Perth, Glasgow, Newcastle, the entire East Coast as far south as London and Kent.
It covers Glossop and areas to the north and east of Manchester city centre and Bury, including Oldham, Tameside, parts of Stockport and Rochdale.
It is in effect until midnight on Wednesday.
The warning says frequent snow showers may lead to travel disruption in places. And some places are likely to miss the showers entirely, it says.
Some roads and railway journeys will be affected, with a small chance of longer delays in places if vehicles and passengers become stranded.
Some injuries from slips and falls are possible on icy surfaces and there's the risk of icy patches on some untreated roads and pavements. And there is a slight chances some rural communities could become cut off and a small chance power cuts could occur.
Mobile phone coverage and other services could be affected.
Amber warning for snow:
On Tuesday in Scotland, there's an amber snow warning in place from 3am to 9pm covering an area north of Glasgow and West of Edinburgh to Stirling and the edge of Dundee.
It could bring disruption as a result of snow with a warning of delays on roads and "likely stranding some vehicles and passengers."
Rail and air travel could be cancelled and "there is a good chance some rural communities could become cut off."
Power outs are likely and mobile phone coverage may be affected.
Yellow warning for snow and ice:
A yellow warning for snow and ice is in effect in Northern Ireland in Belfast and surrounding areas. It is in effect until Tuesday morning at 11am.
Up to 3cm of snow could fall in places.
