It’s the festive season, which means it’s perfectly acceptable to eat, drink, and be merry with your friends and family.
That’s just us though, what about Father Christmas? It turns out, with so many new builds over the last few years, Santa is expected to eat quite a few extra mince pies than usual.
According to St. Mowden Homes there has been 1,672,000 new houses built in the UK since 2011, which means Santa has an extra eight minutes of travel time.
With extra households means extra food, and Father Christmas is set to consume a whopping 536,712,000 extra calories this year.
Let’s break it down:
- There will be 377,872,000 calories in extra mince pies
- With 158,840,000 calories in extra milk to wash down the mince pies
- And even if Santa or his reindeers choose carrots over mince pies, there will be an extra 50,160,000 calories being consumed
With that being said, it’s very common for people to go on a health kick in January. But according to data, to burn off the 158million milk calories, Santa would need to run 1,588,400 miles.
If he’d rather not run, there’s always the option to cycle 3,647,333 miles or swim for 283,642 hours - easy, right?
