Glenn Close has declared that actors are a part of the "alien nation".
The actress suggested that artists experience the world in a more imaginative and observant way and survive on creativity, compared to those who are not in the profession, in a speech during her Hand and Footprint Ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Friday (01.05.26).
Glenn, 79, said: "We are members of the alien nation, because I think we have more antennae than maybe some other humans. And there are aliens and civilians, and we definitely speak different languages."
The Fatal Attraction star "fears a world" where people do not respect that way of life.
Glenn added: "We aliens thrive and live on creative collaboration. It is our sustenance."
The Oscar nominee continued: "Then there is what I call creative friction, the act of removing your ego in the fight for the best results. Then there's the world according to Rory, my grandson, which is, 'Uh-oh.' Or 'Oh, wow!'"
Glenn was surrounded by her loved ones and fans as she joined an elite group of cinema greats who have their hands and footprints outside the TCL Chinese Theatre.
And the 101 Dalmatians cast member declared that being one of many legendary entertainers to have a Hand and Footprint Ceremony was "the honour of my life".
Glenn said: "They all had stories of overcoming, of persistence, frequently against the odds, who had to balance their public personas against who they really were.
"People with a dream, of course. But people with a crazy, unquenchable belief, the crazy engine of belief, that they had something unique to give to the world, to help us understand what it means to be a human, a human being on this little orb, the earth.
"To be considered worthy of their company is the honour of my life."
Glenn was supported by her fans, celebrity pals Melissa McCarthy, 55, Ben Falcone, 52, and Zelda Williams, 36, as well as the star's beloved Havanese dog, Sir Pippin of Beanfield, her daughter Annie Starke, 38, and her baby boy, Rory, at the ceremony.
And Glenn took time to express her joy in being a grandmother to Rory, whom actress Annie and her husband, Marc Albu, welcomed into the world in February 2025.
The All's Fair alum told People: "I love it. Every single minute!
"It's also as much of a joy to see my daughter blossoming at this point as a lovely, funny, wonderful mother. And you can see it in the face of her child."
