Alisson: Liverpool dealt hammer injury blow as star sidelined for six weeks

Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow as Alisson Becker looks set to be sidelined for a lengthy period.

The Brazilian goalkeeper limped off in the Reds’ 1-0 Champions League defeat by Galatasaray in midweek.

Manager Arne Slot confirmed immediately that Alisson would not feature in tomorrow’s game against Chelsea.

Now, according to reports in The Athletic, it looks as though the shot-stopper will be out for around six weeks, and he will miss some key fixtures in that time.

The report details that Alisson has suffered a hamstring injury.

With his first-choice goalkeeper on the treatment table, that will mean that Slot has to turn to new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili, who replaced Alisson in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Starting with the trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Alisson looks to set to miss out on some huge games for Liverpool in the coming weeks.

The champions host Manchester United after the international break, before travelling to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

They then visit Brentford and welcome Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Carabao Cup to round off October, before home games against Aston Villa and Real Madrid at the turn of the month.

Slot’s side then take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before the next international break, when the Brazilian is slated to make his return to action.

He will miss Brazil’s two friendlies against South Korea and Japan next week as well.
