Alison Hammond took centre stage as Addams Family matriarch, Morticia Addams, for This Morning’s Halloween special.

The ITV show got a spooky makeover on Monday as the studio, cast and signature theme music was given an Addams Family twist.

Hammod was joined by the likes of co-hosts Holly Willoughby as Wednesday, Phillip Schofield as Uncle Fester and Gok Wan as Pugsley.

Welcoming viewers, Hammond said: "Hello and welcome to our home. We’re so pleased you could join us on this delightfully gloomy morning.

"It sounds like a storm, darling! I knew it was going to be shaping up to be a wonderful day."

Willoughby then promised that some of the family’s relatives would be making an appearance.

She said: "You have caught us just ahead of our annual Halloween celebrations, and just like most days at Cemetery Lane, we’re bound to have an odd relative drop by."

Schofield teased: "And speaking of relatives, we’re also expecting a mysterious guest a little later. I wonder who it could be?"

But while the entire cast got into the spirit of the season, it was Hammond, who was nominated for Best Presenter at the National Television Award earlier this month and also recently shut down rift gossip about co-star Dermot O’Leary, that got the viewers gushing.

One tweeted: "@AlisonHammond you are looking absolutely stunning today!" Another wrote: "Wow Alsion Hammond is the Morticia Addams I didn’t realise we needed until today."

While a third gushed: "Alison looks amazing. I haven’t even noticed the others lol."

Other parts of today’s show included "finger pie and lots of blood" in the kitchen, a "guess the spooky gadget" game, and Pugsley (Gok Wan) hosting a spooky fashion segment all about the colour black.
