Alfredo Morelos stretchered off as Rangers star victim of horror challenge in Dundee United clash

Alfredo Morelos has been stretchered off at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard's injury woes continue.

Morelos had only come on as a substitute for Rangersin the first half for Brandon Barker, who had pulled up with a hamstring problem as he chased a through ball.

He left the field after a sickening challenge by United defender Ryan Edwards that left him with a gash above his knee, and was replaced by Scott Arfield.

Gerrard also brought on Calvin Bassey for Borna Barisic who reacted with fury at the tackle and was already booked.

Referee Kevin Clancy is likely to face criticism as the United player wasn't even booked for the high challenge.

Morelos was the fourth Rangers player to be injured today. Prior to Barker leaving the pitch, Ryan Jack had limped off with a calf problem and Leon Balogun suffered an injury in the pre-match warm-up.

Balogun was replaced in the starting lineup by Filip Helander, while Glen Kamara came on for Jack.
