Alfredo Morelos facing Rangers ban as striker and Darren McGregor risk SFA charge

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos and Darren McGregor of Hibs are both facing potential bans after Wednesday's fiery clash at Easter Road.

El Bufalo appeared to stamp on defender Ryan Porteous in the first half before going on to score the winner after the break.

The controversial Colombian will discover on Friday if he is to be clobbered with another retrospective red card for a first half clash with Hibs defender Ryan Porteous - while McGregor is also facing action for a challenge on Glen Kamara.

Record Sport has learned footage of both flashpoints will be examined on Friday morning by a three man panel made up of former top referees as both players sweat over potential retrospective red cards.

Morelos is facing a ban after TV cameras caught him planting his studs on Porteous before the striker netted his side’s second half winner.

The 24-year-old accepted a two game ban in December after being cited for throwing an elbow into the face of Dundee United defender Mark Connolly and now looks set to be dragged back up into the Hampden dock.

McGregor could also be hammered for putting the boot into Glen Kamara after hurling the Finland international to the ground.

McGregor was booked at the time by Kevin Clancy for the original foul but it’s understood the official did not see either incident in full which is why both players are now facing trial by TV.

Under the disciplinary fast-track rules, any charges for either player will have to be lodged before 3pm on Friday afternoon.
