Alfredo Morelos disallowed Rangers goal earns Ref Watch verdict as Celtic branded 'lucky'

The biggest calls from Saturday's thrilling Old Firm derby have earned the verdict of former top referee Dermot Gallagher.

The five-goal powder-keg at Celtic Park produced some jaw-dropping moments including Rangers' errors that allowed Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota to seal the bragging rights for Celtic and go twelve points clear. Post-match Michael Beale and James Tavernier raised a question of 'handball' in the build up to the Hoops' second goal while the decision to disallow a goal for Alfredo Morelos angered those of a Rangers persuasion.

And the Ref Watch microscope shone on the decision with Gallagher insisting the Hoops got off with one and that both players were simply 'grappling'.

He told Sky Sports: "I think Celtic are very, very lucky. Both players are grappling, for me best to let it go [allow the goal].

"Both are grappling there's no doubt. They got lucky."

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock added: "Both players have got their hands on each other, it's a physical game at the end of the day.

"That isn't enough to rule out a goal. It's two players jostling for position. It's another poor decision."
