Alexandre Lacazette responds to Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang as grand Nicolas Pepe plan emerges

Nicolas Pepe is nearing a move to the Emirates Stadium and it appears that Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are having some fun with the speculation around the forward.

Last season, the Ivorian scored 22 goals and set up 11 assists for Lille and is expected to add a new spark to Unai Emery's front-line alongside the two forwards.

After scoring in the Emirates Cup match against Lyon, Aubameyang appeared to use Pepe's own goal celebration as he reacted to finding the back of the net.

He later followed up on that gesture by repeating it in an Instagram message, tagging in Lacazette.

"Where are u?" read the caption from the Gabonese striker, whose bond with the Frenchman has become a reference point for the rest of the dressing room.

Both players are expected to play key roles in welcoming Pepe to the club and ensuring he settles quickly ahead of the new season.

In response to Aubameyang's message on Instagram, Lacazette soon sent his own picture doing Pepe's celebration and caption back to the ex-Borussia Dortmund player.

With the Arsenal training centre at London Colney tagged into his post, the former Lyon forward included his strike partner's handle with another message: "Where r u?"

On social media, fans have already begun to suspect that their posts could prove to be part of an elaborate unveiling of Pepe across social media.

It would not be the first time that Aubameyang and Arsenal have been involved in similar tricks.

Back in January 2018, in a video to announce Henrikh Mkhitaryan had joined the Gunners, the Armenian appeared to shout out to his old Dortmund teammate out of shot.

Supporters were quick off the mark to spot the hint and were ultimately proven right in the end as Aubameyang joined the club days later.

The striker and his friend and colleague Lacazette may be involved in something similar around the signing of Pepe with the Ivorian at London Colney to undergo his medical.
