Alex Van Pelt confirms he is out as Browns’ offensive coordinator

After speculation earlier this morning, Alex Van Pelt has confirmed he is out as the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns.

After four seasons with the team, Van Pelt is on to new pastures as the Browns look to revamp their offense this offseason. Following a season where the Browns could not run the ball after the injury to Nick Chubb, and finished near the bottom of the league in Expected Points Added per play, these changes are a refreshing new pace for head coach Kevin Stefanski to take.

Van Pelt told Jake Trotter of ESPN:

“On to the next one. Proud of my time here.”

After four years of a stale staff outside of Drew Petzing being hired away by the Arizona Cardinals, Stefanski is looking for fresher eyes as he looks to revamp the offensive side of the football.

The Browns will now begin their search for a new offensive coordinator, running backs coach, and tight ends coach.
