Alex Trebek announces return to Jeopardy! after pancreatic cancer treatment

Alex Trebek has announced his return to Jeopardyafter receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer

The host appears in a video published on Thursday, in which he gives viewers an update on his health and teases the game show’s new season.

“I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully that is now over,” he says in the new clip.

“I’m on the mend and that’s all I can hope for right now.”

Trebek announced in March he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, prompting an outpour of support from his fans.

Five-year survival rates for pancreatic cancer are comprised between three and 34 per cent, according to the American Cancer Society.

Back when Trebek first discussed his diagnosis publicly, he told viewers: ”Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working.

“And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

In May, he told People magazine his doctors had told him he was in “near remission” and that some of his tumours had shrunk by 50 per cent.
