Alex McLeish pictured at Hampden watching Hearts vs Inverness

Alex McLeish has made his first public appearance in nearly a month.

The Scotland boss was spotted at Hampden on Saturday watching Hearts take apart Inverness to reach the Scottish Cup Final.

McLeish, wearing a national team coach’s jacket over a blazer, was spotted next to SFA performance director Malky Mackay.

The 60-year-old is poised to be relieved of his duties before the next Euro 2020 qualifier, against Cyprus in June.

Alex McLeish 'holds crunch summit' with SFA chief Ian Maxwell over Scotland future

Record Sport revealed McLeish was for the chop after an edgy win against San Marino did little to appease the fans following the 3-0 humiliation in Kazakhstan.

We told how a group of players were left stunned by a "deeply troubling episode" prior to the victory against the minnows.

Sources close to McLeish as well as LMA chief Richard Bevan insist the manager has told them he has no worries over his health.

He continues to have the support of SFA president and close friend Alan McRae following his appointment in February 2018 on a two-year deal.

But other members of the SFA board – scheduled to meet at Hampden on April 18 – are understood to feel differently and are ready to finally pull the trigger.
