Aldi shoppers infuriated by 'trick' being used to buy crates of £1.99 Prime drink

Yesterday, Aldi supermarkets across the country saw scenes of chaos as thousands of people rushed to stores before they opened in the hopes of getting their hands on a bottle of YouTube sensations KSI and Logan Paul's sell-out energy drink Prime. Adults and kids alike could be seen queueing outside Aldi stores from dawn to get a bottle of the viral £1.99 drink.

Given Prime's sheer popularity, Aldi had placed a limit of one of each flavour per shopper in all of its supermarkets to ensure fairness. But in the scramble, people were spotted taking drastic actions in a bid to try and bypass the rules.

On the Hemel Hempstead Community & Conversation Facebook group, shopper Michelle Fullam pointed out how she'd seen a man attempting to open several Prime drink bottles in her local Aldi. She says the shopper believed his 'trick' would mean staff would allow him to buy all of the bottles as they'd already been opened. He was wrong, and he ended up being banned from buying any at all.

Michelle slammed: "To the man in Aldi this morning that thought it would be a good idea to load his basket with Prime drink and open them all thinking they would sell them to you as you’d opened them. Shame on you. Swearing and abusing the staff as there was a limit of one of each flavour per customer.

"Well done to the staff at Aldi for taking them off of him and not allowing him to buy them. Because of your greed some kids missed out.” Julian Ward replied: "Stupid man, but simple answer: don't buy these overpriced, overhyped drinks. Just a soft drink at the end of the day."

Denise Ann Rulton slammed: "I hate people like that was probing try rip people off by char £20 a bottle he should be ashamed what a a hole!!!"

Eleanor Dahlstrom wrote: "Pig of the week." Paula James praised: "Well done Aldi."

Fans have been desperate to get their hands on the drink, created by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul, for weeks after it became an internet sensation. Aldi has become the second supermarket in the UK to sell the popular drink and they were also forced to put a limit on sales, restricting customers to just three bottles, says Birmingham Live.

In a statement, Aldi said: "The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on 29 th December. The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone! The supermarket is expecting high demand so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy them."
