Aldi shoppers furious over 'trick' to buy crates of £1.99 Prime drink

On Thursday, Aldi stores across the UK saw customers queueing outside in the hopes of getting their hands on viral energy drink Prime.

Adults and kids alike could be seen at supermarkets from dawn to get a bottle of the £1.99 drink, created by Youtube stars KSI and Logan Paul. Aldi placed a limit of one of each flavour per shopper, given how popular the drink is. But in the scramble, people were spotted taking drastic actions in a bid to try and bypass the rules, the MEN reports.

Taking to a Facebook group, one shopper pointed out how she'd seen a man attempting to open several Prime drink bottles in her local Aldi. She said the customer believed his "trick" would mean staff would allow him to buy all of the bottles as they'd already been opened.

He was wrong, and he ended up being banned from buying any at all. The woman said: "To the man in Aldi this morning that thought it would be a good idea to load his basket with Prime drink and open them all thinking they would sell them to you as you’d opened them. Shame on you.

"Well done to the staff at Aldi for taking them off of him and not allowing him to buy them. Because of your greed some kids missed out.”

Another Facebook user said: "Stupid man, but simple answer: don't buy these overpriced, overhyped drinks. Just a soft drink at the end of the day." A third said "I hate people like that, he should be ashamed", while a fourth simply said: "Well done Aldi".

Fans have been desperate to get their hands on the drink for weeks after it became an internet sensation. Aldi has become the second supermarket in the UK to sell the popular drink and they were also forced to put a limit on sales, restricting customers to just three bottles each.

In a statement, Aldi said: "The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on December 29. The drink will be a Specialbuy, and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone! The supermarket is expecting high demand so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy them."
