Aldi's range of Halloween items 'too scary' to be sold in store

With Halloween fast approaching, Aldi has upped it's game this year - with some products deemed too terrifying to sell in store.

The supermarket has banned some items from it's famous middle aisle, as their most gruesome items are sold online only.

A motion censored undead corpse and ghastly zombie-like ground breakers are amongst the products banished from the shelves, Birmingham Live reports.

No longer only favoured by children, Halloween is now enjoyed by all ages - with research showing Brits spent half a billion pounds on the ghoulish spectacle in 2018 alone.

The store says they have made the change so little ones and those of a nervous disposition aren’t spooked out in store.

Aldi’s full range features a number of increasingly realistic props, including ones with mechanical features - guaranteed to terrify the neighbours and raise the dead.

Those who dare to look, will find Aldi’s Dancing Skeleton lurking alongside the Laughing Frankie. Both characters come with adjustable telescopic legs, arms and head along with a spine-chilling laugh to send the whole crowd shrieking.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said:  “In recent years we’ve seen increased demand for Halloween products, particularly amongst adults.

"We challenged our buyers to unleash their most realistic and terrifying Halloween decorations, to provide our customers with the best, high-quality products at consistently low prices."

The supermarket will continue to stock its bestselling kid-friendly products in-store, but more sinister items will have to be ordered online.
