Aldi is recruiting in West Lothian – and the starting salary is £44,000

Aldi is recruiting for a manager in West Lothian – with the starting salary a cool £44,000.

The discounter is inviting applications for their 'Bathgate region' as they hire a raft of new area managers across the UK.

While the starting pay packet is hefty enough, that will increase to more than £76,000 after five years. The recruit could also end up travelling to Europe, the US or Australia to work in stores there.

And if that wasn't enough they'll also be given their own fully expensed Audi A4 of BMW 3 series to help get around the region.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Aldi are looking for graduates across the country who want to start their retail management career, or those who are looking to embark on a brand new career.

Applicants will need to be "strong minded and determined" and possess a 2:1 degree in any subject.

Recruits will go through a 12 month programme with extensive training, and once qualified they'll manage and maintain a number of stores in their area.

They'll be taught about how the business works before taking on a variety of tasks such as stacking shelves and making big decisions on a store. Once that is complete they'll be given the keys to their own stores.

The job advert states: "You've probably heard a lot about the Area Manager Programme by now – that we give our graduates a fantastic package (including an Audi A4 or a BMW 3 series) and that it's 'really hard work'. These are true.

"But there's so much more. We're also a responsible employer who thrives on giving graduates unparalleled exposure, training and support.

"Throughout the year you'll learn the ins and outs of store life, before discovering what it takes to lead your own area."
