Albion Rovers tie up several players and boss Brian Reid on new deals

Albion Rovers have extended the contracts of Lewis Wilson, Jamie Leslie, Kyle Doherty and goalkeeper Chris Smith, while boss Brian Reid has also signed on for next season.

The news comes after the Coatbridge club announced that James McGowan had agreed a pre-contract with them, following a successful loan spell from Troon for the second half of the season.

Rovers finished the season seventh in League Two following an impressive second half of the season, which led to manager Brian Reid and striker Matty Aitken lifting the manager and player of the month awards for April.

Boss Brian Reid said: "I am looking forward to next season and believe everyone at the club is going in the right direction.

"The start to last season wasn't good enough and it was way below the levels I accept as a manager.

"We worked around the problems we faced and managed to secure a respectable finish - but we need to build on that now.

"It's refreshing to have so many younger players at the club, who have continued to develop as last season progressed.

"It is a healthy position to be in, and shows that we are a club that can develop young players and give them a chance.

"There was a real willingness to be part of next season's squad."
