An alarm system has been installed to protect a new Banksy artwork after yobs climbed onto the roof of a house last night.
The house on Park Street, which features the painting on its Vale Street wall, is owned by Aileen Makin, 57.
Speaking at the scene today, her son Nicholas said: ''My mum suffers with pulmonary fibrosis and she’s shielding so she’s asked me to deal with it all.
“This one is obviously substantial because of what it means. My step brothers put the Perspex up last night just to protect it.
“Obviously the one on Barton Hill a few years back within a few days had paint thrown all over it. This Perspex is just to protect it for now and then security will put up a couple of alarms.
"I was here last night and at 2am there were a load of p***ed up 20-year-olds jumping on the roof taking photos.”

Today a Verisure representative went to the house to install the new security.
She said the alarm would sound if anyone stretched their hand over the wall in front of the artwork or walked on the roof.
The system can also "take pictures" of any intruder and if the alarm sounds the Verisure guards will be called.
