ALAN Cumming is set to host an evening of traditional Scottish music at an iconic New York venue.
The concert – Scotland's Hoolie In New York – is taking place at the city’s Carnegie Hall, considered by some as the world’s most famous music venue, on the evening of the NYC Tartan Day Parade, which is this Saturday April 5.
It will include performances from some of Scotland's folk royalty, including the award-winning group Mànran, vocalist Julie Fowlis, and Caledonia's Dougie MacLean, alongside special guests.
Cumming will also lead the legendary parade this year as the so-called grand marshall.
Mànran founder and singer Gary Innes took to Instagram (below) in a shared post with the actor, expressing their excitement for the evening.
He said: “I've hired, arguably the world's most famous music venue, Carnegie Hall, for the biggest night of Scottish traditional music, and triple Emmy award-winning actor Alan Cumming is presenting it!”
Innes then added that he will be on Good Morning America, NBC, and feature in The New York Times and other media outlets in the coming days.
He will also have a dinner with the First Minister John Swinney and other special guests before Saturday's historic show.
“So, no April Fools this year, just a mad vision and dream that very much sounds like an April Fools, which has taken nearly two years of planning, hard work and another almighty gamble to try and pull it off, but to each and every one of you that has also believed in that dream and bought tickets for Hoolie in New York, I cannot thank you enough!”
