Ajcharaporn shines as Thai volleyball team beat Bulgaria

The Thai women's team began their third week in the FIVB Nations League with a 3-1 win against Bulgaria on Tuesday.

The Thais came from behind to beat the visitors 25-27, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 at Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark.

It is Thailand's third win against four losses in the league.

In yesterday's other Pool 11 match at the same venue, Turkey defeated the Dominican Republic 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18.

Against Bulgaria, Ajcharaporn Kongyot was Thailand's top scorer with 18 points. Pleumjit Thinkaow and Chatchu-On Moksri each made 11 for the hosts.

Ajcharaporn became the latest player to score 30 points or more in the Nations League.

The 23-year-old had 17 kills from 35 swings (49 per cent) plus eight stuffs and five aces. Her blocking record was just one short of the all-time VNL high of nine.

Miroslava Paskova and Mira Todorova each scored 15 points for Bulgaria, who remain winless and at the bottom of the 16-team competition.

Today, Thailand meet the Dominican Republic and Turkey take on Bulgaria.
