Ajax star Donny van de Beek addresses future amid Manchester United transfer speculation

Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek has addressed rumours that he could make a big money move this summer.

The Dutch international has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, among others, but insisted he has not yet decided on his next move.

He was directly asked about making a move to La Liga, with Madrid a definite option, but Van de Beek said all options remained open and reiterated his love for Ajax.

"Playing in the sun is always nice, but no, I haven't started taking Spanish classes," he insisted in an interview with magazine  Helden.

"I still haven't said 'yes' to anyone, it's all open. I know what I have here, I'm loved by Ajax and I love Ajax.

"My feeling should be positive at a club, not only that they want me but also that I fit in their system of play.

"Of course, I also want to know the game time they will give me."

The 22-year-old was one of the breakout stars of last season's Champions League, as Ajax came within a whisker of making the final after dumping out Juventus and Real Madrid. His former teammates Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt have both since sealed big money moves to Barcelona and Juventus respectivey.

Van de Beek had scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists so far this season before fixtures were suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

United are on the look-out for an attacking midfielder and have registered an interest in Jack Grealish of Aston Villa and Leicester City's James Maddison, among others.

Van de Beek is certainly a player they admire, but it remains to be seen if they would sanction a move for the Dutchman.
