Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s purple lips at Cannes make Twitter laugh

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has taken her A-game to Cannes Film Festival this year. Every single one of her red carpet appearances during Cannes 2016 have been on-trend and she has already made five of them.

Aishwarya flaunts a lilac pout with her flower-embellished Rami Kadi dress.

She pushed the fashion boundaries further as she wore a bardot Rami Kadi dress adorned with delicate applique work and purple lipstick on Sunday. The actor was attending the From The Land Of The Moon premiere at the film festival on Sunday. Accompanied by the team of her upcoming film Sarbjit, she also posed for selfies. The film was screened on Sunday.

But amid all this, the fashion police zeroed in on her makeup choice of the day: the purple lipstick. While some loved it, most had a joke on the subject. The actor, however, was unfazed: “I am an actor by my career choice. I enjoy fashion and I treat it like art and I have a life, a family. So, I am not focusing on all of this. So it (look) doesn’t stress me out.. It doesn’t get me nervous.. I am a professional,” she added.

Here are just few of the tweets on the subject.

For the press conference of the film earlier in the day, she picked a golden-brown ensemble by ace Indian fashion designer Rohit Bal for the gala. This is Aishwarya’s 15th year at the festival.

Directed by Omung Kumar, Sarbjit is a biopic on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan. He was attacked and killed by inmates at a Lahore prison in April 2013. Randeep Hooda will be seen playing Sarabjit Singh in the film.
