Seven security officers at Gatwick airport have been arrested on suspicion of stealing goods worth £50,000 from passengers' bags.
The men are all employed by a security firm to screen bags for suspicious items at the north terminal.
Two were arrested in the terminal at 8am yesterday. The others were arrested at addresses in Crawley, West Sussex. Property recovered includes 30 laptop computers, more than 30 mobile phones, four digital and video cameras, watches, and CDs.
The arrests are the culmination of a joint operation by Sussex Police, BAA and the Department for Transport.
Detective Chief Inspector Sharon Rowe, based at Gatwick, said there would be more arrests after the 12-month investigation.
