Airline axes Saudi Arabia flight route a year after launch

  • Virgin Atlantic is scrapping its London to Riyadh flight from 7 April, just a year after the route's launch.
  • The airline said the change was due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, “based on the latest intelligence, regulatory guidance, demand, and operating costs”.
  • In addition to the London Heathrow to Riyadh route, Virgin Atlantic has also cancelled its Manchester to Jeddah service.
  • Customers booked on the affected flights will be offered rebooking onto an alternative carrier or a full refund.
  • Virgin Atlantic will continue to offer connectivity to Saudi Arabia through its codeshare partnership with Saudia and has also suspended its seasonal Dubai service until the Winter 2026 season.
