Air ambulance lands and road cordoned off after 'serious' crash

An air ambulance has landed and police have cordoned off a road following a "serious crash".

Officers were called at around 1.20pm today to Halton Brow in Runcorn following reports of a serious crash involving a motorbike and a black Ford Ecosport. A passer-by appeared to be "shaken" and said emergency services were working on the biker.

An air ambulance landed nearby on a field on Quarry Close behind Boston Avenu e and police have also cordoned off the area. Currently at the scene is an ambulance, paramedic car and at least three police vehicles.

An eyewitness said two white vans have pulled up across the junction, possibly to shield the casualty from view. A person in casual wear also appears to be assisting the paramedics.

At the foot of Boston Avenue a crowd of people have gathered to see what has happened. A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said road closures are currently in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

They said: "Officers were called at around 1.20pm on Friday, September 23 to Halton Brow following reports of a serious collision involving a motorbike and a black Ford Ecosport. Road closures are currently in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
