Air and land ambulances were called out to help extract an injured woman from the edge of Darwen Moor. The Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was summoned by the North West Ambulance Service to assist in helping to get the woman from the Duckshaw area because of the steep terrain.
The woman was treated on the ground by the North West Ambulance Service and doctors from the North West Air Ambulance. She was then loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and conveyed a short distance to a waiting land ambulance using a simple rope system and carry.
Three Bolton Mountain Rescue Team vehicles attended the incident and 13 team members were involved for just under two hours. Bolton Mountain Rescue said on Facebook: "On Tuesday 4th October, the team was contacted by the North West Ambulance Service at 14:35 to request our help in extracting a female casualty in the Duckshaw area on the edge of Darwen Moor due to steep terrain.

"After being treated by North West Ambulance Service and doctors from the North West Air Ambulance, the casualty was loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carefully conveyed a short distance to the waiting land ambulance using a simple rope system and carry. Three team vehicles attended and 13 team members were involved for just under two hours."
