AI video maker advert banned for sexualising women

  • An advert for PixVideo – AI Video Maker on YouTube has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for causing serious offence.
  • The ad depicted “before” and “after” images of a young woman, implying the digital removal of clothing and exposure of her body.
  • Eight complaints were made to the ASA, arguing the ad sexualised and objectified women, and was irresponsible, offensive and harmful.
  • Saeta Tech Ltd, trading as PixVideo, acknowledged the ad's potential to offend and stated their app does not support the creation of nude or sexually explicit content, having already removed the ad.
  • The ASA ruled the ad was irresponsible, included a harmful gender stereotype, and was likely to cause serious offence, instructing PixVideo to ensure future ads are socially responsible.
