Ahmedabad industrialist Parag Desai died of brain haemorrhage

Ahmedabad based Parag Desai, 49, Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, succumbed to head injuries he had sustained when he fell down while trying to escape an attack by street dogs during his evening walk near his residence in Ambali area in the heart of the city.

He had suffered a brain haemorrhage after a fall last week, and died in hospital on Sunday evening. He was put on ventilator before he breathed his last.

“With profound grief, we regret to inform the sad demise of our beloved Parag Desai,” the company said in an Instagram post.

He was admitted to the hospital last week and was being treated for a severe head injury after he had fallen down while running to escape the stray dogs who were chasing him.

“The patient was brought to the emergency department around 6 pm. He was unconscious and not responding. It was stated that the patient fell down after being chased by dogs but apparently, there were no dog bite marks on his body. A CT scan revealed acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion. Lately, we have been getting a lot of cases due to dog bites or accidents caused by stray animals,” Shalby hospital said in a press note.

He was first taken to the Shalby hospital; which is near to their residence and subsequently shifted to Zydus hospital where he died.

Officials from the company also told local media that he had a fall after being chased by stray dogs during his routine evening walk.
