Police officers were attacked by a woman whilst helping someone due to concerns over their welfare tonight (Friday). Police say they were helping a female in Exchange Square, in the city centre, when the incident happened.
Officers say they were 'dealing with a concern for a female' when approached by another woman. This woman then became aggressive and kicked one officer in the leg.
This injured the officer, police say. The attacker was subsequently arrested for two counts of suspicion of assault and possession of cannabis.

A GMP city centre spokesman said: "Whilst officers are dealing with a concern for female in Exchange Square, another female has approached and become aggressive, kicking an officer in the leg, resulting in injury. The female has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault and possession of cannabis."
