MOHALI: Despite instructions from deputy commissioner Amit Talwar, Gmada, MC, NHAI and the B&R wing are yet to rectify the black spots on the roads of their jurisdictions. They had clear orders to plug the gaps and fill the potholes for commuters’ safety.
Of the district 92 accident-prone areas, 32 or 35% are on the national highways running through the urban areas. It came out in the state government’s study of Punjab’s black spots. Going strict against the agencies that have taken their task lightly, the DC has issued them a warning and told them to get on with rectification after procuring the required safety equipment.
Talwar said: “We must get strict if we want to eliminate the black spots. It is the responsibility of these agencies to maintain the roads. If they lag, the negligent officials will be punished. We are fully vigilant.”
