After straight-up spamming our phones and splurging millions in annoying ads and billboards, I’m happy to inform you that Clive Palmer’s Trumpet of Patriots has walked away with fuck-all seats in the latest election. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
As of Sunday, the party has received nearly 225,000 primary votes for the House of Representatives — way more than I would’ve guessed, tbh — but breaking this down, it translates to just 1.46 per cent of the total, per SBS News.
The MAGA-inspired Trumpet of Patriots had almost 100 candidates for the House of Representatives and was running for all states in the Senate. It isn’t expected to secure any seats in the lower house, and there’s a slim (let me emphasise slim) chance in the Senate, with Queensland proving its strongest prospect.
Going by Australian Electoral Commission statistics on Sunday morning, other parties — like Legalise Cannabis Australia or Pauline Hanson‘s One Nation — are more likely to nab a Senate spot.
Overall, I’d like to say Australia’s collective “you can see yourself out” worked like a charm.

Among Trumpet of Patriots’ key policies were cutting immigration, exiting the Paris Climate Agreement, and adopting more Donald Trump-esque policies to “Make Australia Great Again”. Back in February, Palmer even claimed Australia “needs Trump policies” and Australians “want them” — but we can let the Liberals’ pummelling this election speak for itself.
As reported by the Daily Telegraph, Trumpet of the Patriots candidates across the board have fared poorly, despite (or should we say because?) of all those pesky spam texts. In the Sydney electorate of Reid, where candidate David Sarikaya lost to Labor’s Sally Sitou, he only received 1.57 per cent of the vote as of 11pm on Saturday.
Party leader Suellen Wrightson also failed to make an impression in the electorate of Hunter, with Labor incumbent Dan Repacholi projected to hold the seat. As of Sunday morning, Wrightson has received just 3.36 per cent of votes.
But that didn’t stop her from posting a message to her fellow Hunter candidates, thanking them for a “respectful and engaging debate about what we need in our community” before promptly locking her Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts. At the time of writing, her X account appears to be active again.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph earlier this week, Palmer said that he had spent up to $60 million(!!!) on the election campaign. Other media reports estimate this included $5.6 million on television advertising and about $4.2 million on YouTube ads, way more than any other party in the election.
All this to land no seats, you couldn’t make it up if you tried.
